Consultation and supervision are essential components of effective therapy.
They have always been an essential and ongoing component of my own professional foundation and I offer them to other therapists – new, transitional and seasoned – as my contribution to the network that broadens and strengthens our professional base. Consultation and supervision may be in person in the Burlington area, or over the telephone, one-on-one or in a group. My approach to both consultation and supervision is psychodynamic, relational and body-centered.
My goal is to offer guidance in framing productive perspectives from which to explore the dilemmas of therapeutic practice and to share my clinical and training-based experience to provide a wider lens through which your own clinical self-confidence and wisdom can grow.Supervision:
As a practicing therapist since 1988, and a licensed Psychologist-Master since 1991,
I offer consultation and supervision to therapists working with a variety of clients in private practice and outpatient public health agencies. Supervision with me can be applied toward licensure in Vermont as a Psychologist, a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Consultation for Group Therapists:
I’ve been a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) since 2001. I participate in the annual American Group Psychotherapy Association Conference and its Training Institutes, and am a graduate of the Washington School of Psychiatry’s National Group Psychotherapy Institute, a two-year training program.
Consultation with me may be applied toward qualifying for CGP certification by the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists.
In group therapy, more than in any other therapy modality,
useful training must encompass interactive examination of the group process. By its nature, the dynamic process of a therapy group is difficult to thoroughly dissect alone or to undertake with colleagues who are not trained in the process of group therapy.Consultation with me may be applied toward qualifying for CGP certification by the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists.
Consultation in EMDR:
I have been practicing EMDR since 2005 and am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved EMDR Consultant.
I fee passion and commitment I see the potential of EMDR as a healing modality for our world. In my practice with individuals, I focus much of my work on EMDR because I see it as the most valid and effective tool available for healing the trauma, anxiety and depression, and removing the creative blocks that abound in our culture.
I am an outspoken advocate for ongoing consultation for those who want to use EMDR in their practice.
The skills required to effectively bring EMDR into clinical practice are subtle and take time and support to develop. Too often, therapists who are newly trained in EMDR get discouraged and give up on the modality. Consultation in so new a skill can make all the difference. It can normalize the challenges to confidence while it supports you in cultivating the skill to see therapeutic work through the EMDR paradigm.
EMDR consultation with me can be applied toward fulfillment of the requirements for becoming a Certified EMDR Therapist.
